Elections 2008
This May’s local elections will take on an extra resonance as the Conservatives look to build on 2007’s success, while Labour regroup and rebuild.
But what will these results mean?
Put quite simply, new councils and councillors mean new people which mean new policies. At the local level, even slight changes in a council’s composition can make all the difference. If a ruling party loses seats, it may lose power or have to share power; if it wins seats, it can become more dominant and less consensual.
A change of control at the local council that covers a site may bring in a new approach to housing and planning issues or a new chairman of the Planning Committee. A change of councillor in a site ward could mean that one loses or gains an advocate for development.
Green Issues Communications has a unique insight into local politics of the land and is able to make real sense of election results and examine what they mean for any specific area. Our election analysis service offers:
· The overall picture and changes to the balance of power at the council
· Interpretation and analysis of the site ward results
· Overall analysis of how the results will affect your interests and site, teamed with a forward strategy depicting how to handle the politics and move forward
· Interpretation and analysis of parish/town council elections (where appropriate)
