A Year Round Business

Hotel
Noting Canterbury City Council's strategic priority for a hotel in the City, KCCC have pursued options for hotel provision vigorously. Options exist for a 3/4 star 100/120-bedroom hotel on the ground. Business proposals have been received from potential partners.

Health & Fitness
The Club wishes to add a health and fitness centre to the ground. Amenities will include a swimming pool, gymnasium, changing facilities and the KCCC physiotherapy centre. The fitness centre will be located close to the hotel so as to present both residential and local users with an entirely complementary offering.

The agreement with the operator will set aside off-peak time for use by local schools and others.

Restaurant / Bars
A quality restaurant / bar offering a year round function will be a necessary adjunct to the Hotel and Fitness centre. This will be a branded offering and will be run and managed by the hotel management team.

Multiple Sclerosis Society (Rented Office)
Discussions with the Multiple Sclerosis Society are at an early stage. The proposal is that they build their new treatment centre at KCCC. Such a facility would offer a hydrotherapy pool and other rehabilitation treatment rooms. (Were the MS Society not able to take up this space it would revert to rented offices.)

Retail/Club Shop
A new retail area, purpose-built and integrated into the KCCC office building, with three main areas of retail: KCCC merchandise, sport equipment and health & well being (including pharmacy). This shop would also serve local community needs (newspapers/bread/milk etc).

Museum
Noting Canterbury's tourist market, KCCC is in a position to offer a new tourist attraction. A "History of Cricket" Museum would offer the tourist a new attraction in Canterbury. It would also provide a home for KCCC's extensive collection of memorabilia.

Business Hub/Conference Facility
The plans include a state-of-the-art conference facility for 300 delegates, unlike any other conferencing centre the City has to offer. The business hub could also be reconfigured on match days to provide hospitality space.
