Crisis Management and Consultation Training

A strong corporate reputation can take years to develop and requires nurturing and investment to maintain.  Yet a single crisis situation, badly handled, can rapidly inflict serious and long lasting damage to a company and its value.  Mistakes and accidents happen - they are a fact of life generally accepted by many stakeholders.  It is often not the crisis incident itself that can define the damage done to a company’s reputation - but the speed, professionalism and effectiveness with which the company responds to the incident.

Green Issues runs two core crisis management training services:

Crisis scenario workshops. ‘Live’ simulation exercise, testing and analysing the responses of clients to managing the media, staff, regulators etc through a fast-moving and high pressure crisis situation.  Role-playing is used to increase realism in these exercises and journalists and specialist trainers contribute to the workshops.

Crisis preparation. Green Issues can review, revise and develop the client procedures and policies that are to be implemented in the event of a crisis situation to ensure its response is professional, rapid and effective.  These are then presented to the appropriate senior management and captured in a crisis management manual - ready to be used if required.

We also provide training on elements of consultation, including:

Consultation techniques: advising on effective consultation, the best approach, format, content and language for consultation etc.

Managing dissent: advising clients on how to manage protesters, demonstrators and hostile opponents in the setting of consultation event.

Local government training: advising clients on the workings of local government and planning policy from a local councillor’s perspective, how to manage relations with councils and councillors in a professional and effective manner.
