The media plays a huge part in modern day communications, from giving us hard-hitting agenda setting stories to local gossip. Each story has commonalties with the next with its own different agenda, spin and stamp of originality to satisfy its audience with radio, television and newspapers all taking key aspects from the story to suit individual styles and methods of communication.
Preparing for this is essential, especially if you need to put across your message effectively. Training for such an event is often overlooked, but nevertheless very worthwhile. However, practical know-how only stems from practical experience which is why the proposed course is so focused on participation.
Course Aims
Green Issues Communications offers a broad-based programme which equips participants to deal with not only the skills to approach and present to the media, but have a deeper understanding of the motivation feeding journalists and how to use this to their advantage. At the end, participants should have:
- The ability to deal effectively with a media inquiry
- The ability to handle a straightforward TV or radio interview
- Key "life-belt" statements covering a range of scenarios from "angry residents" to a fatality on site which can be used when the company is under attack.
Green Issues Communications specifically tailors each course to its participants and can give advice and support on media issues. |
