Welcome

The land between Huntington Road and Histon Road, Cambridge, which we will refer to as the NIAB site, is currently allocated for housing and community facilities. Green Issues Communications is working with the developers, David Wilson Homes, on forming plans with the local community. An outline planning application has now been submitted to develop the site. There are more details about the application on this website.

David Wilson Homes has been appointed by a consortium of landowners (NIAB, Chivers Family, Chivers Farms Ltd and Christ’s, St Catharine’s and Sidney Sussex Colleges) to secure the delivery of this urban extension located between Huntingdon Road and Histon Road, sometimes referred to as the NIAB site.

David Wilson Homes has applied for planning permission to build around 1,780 new homes on this site. This is in accordance with the allocation of the site for residential development in the Cambridge City Local Plan.

This application will result in substantial benefits for the local community in terms of:

• Provision of affordable housing
• A new primary school
• New community facilities and shops
• Public open space including sports pitches, equipped children’s play areas, informal open space and allotments
• New orbital pedestrian, cycle and bus routes linking Histon Road and Huntingdon Road
• Good integration with the surrounding areas
• The highest quality of design
• High level of sustainability
