The Local Development Framework The Local Development Framework, or LDF, is a folder of documents that explains how and where development will take place in the Borough up until 2021. It is being produced by Castle Point Council. We are currently at a stage known as the "Core Strategy", from which the Council's "Preferred Options" for development will be determined. The LDF must address the issues and targets outlined in the East of England Regional Assembly's Regional Spatial Strategy. This requires Castle Point Council to identify 4,000 new dwellings and 2,000 new jobs within the Borough. There are a number of different sites in the Borough that are being proposed for development, including this site in North Benfleet. We believe that development on this scale, on this site, in Benfleet will be of great benefit to the local area. It will deliver a substantial proportion of the housing need as well as bringing new jobs, new retail space, leisure facilities, a new school and the relocation of the Manor Trading Estate away from residential areas, therefore improving local traffic levels and reducing pollution in this area. The Council has allocated 6 weeks for public consultation on this phase of the LDF - this consultation stage ends on Friday 10 November. In this time, residents and local businesses can write to the Council to express opinions on the development strategy for the Borough.
