Changes
made to the scheme as a result of public consultation
Following the consultation with local residents, groups and representatives,
Berkeley Homes has listened and been able to incorporate into the
scheme a number of comments made by stakeholders and the local community.
These are as follows:
The number of residential homes reduced from a potential 700
to approximately 500.
It is envisaged that the design of the homes will take on a
generally more traditional rather than modern appearance.
The affordable housing will now be spread more evenly across
the site rather than in one identifiable area.
As a result of residents concerns over the provision
of educational needs, Berkeley Homes has held discussions with the
local primary school, the County Council and the District Council.
Consequently Berkeley Homes has offered to make a financial contribution
towards necessary improvements/extensions to the primary school.
Berkeley Homes will ensure the protection of Rye Wood, which
could become an environmental habitat resource or amenity area.
Following feedback at the exhibition, Berkeley Homes has identified
a surface treatment safety scheme at the Pounsley Road underbridge
to address the issue of pedestrian and cyclist safety, rather than
a signal controlled shuttle working scheme.
A new mini roundabout at the junction between Station Road
and London Road is now proposed rather than traffic lights, at the
request of residents.
A medical centre will now be provided on site following residents
comments regarding medical provision.
A financial contribution to fund the provision of community
facilities.
