Feedback throughout the consultation process has been important to us.

Berkeley Homes submitted an application for the West Kent Cold Store site to Sevenoaks District Council in May 2006 and copies of the application are available to view at the council's offices.

Following further changes made to the scheme, the council began consultation on the revised scheme in March 2007. The Council's Development Control Committee considered the planning application on 13 September 2007, but deferred a decision to allow Officers to produce a further report on density, elements of design, traffic and housing mix; and to draft reasons for refusal based on Members' concerns.   Following the deferral, Berkeley Homes appealed to the Secretary of State on the grounds of the non-determination of the application.

The application was subsequently considered by the Council’s Development Control Committee on 30 October 2007, where members resolved that, had they been able to determine the application they would have refused it on a number of grounds, including the density and height of the development and the housing mix.

The date of the appeal has now been scheduled for 23 April 2008.

Berkeley Homes believes this new development will create a high quality environment with buildings of exemplary design and bring forward facilities and benefits for the whole community.
